Parallel support and Inclusion Departments

3 December 2011

Since the school year 2003-2004, the Music School has been operating Inclusion and Parallel Support Departments for students with special educational needs and learning difficulties, such as visual impairment and pervasive developmental disorders. Based on Law 3699/2008, these students are offered individualized instruction by special teachers and students with visual impairment are provided with tactile books for basic subjects. A medical certificate from a public hospital or a recognized diagnostic center is a prerequisite.

The school has special equipment such as two modern Braille embossers, a tactile Braille display output unit, scanners with optical text recognition software, a Piaf device for producing embossed graphics and special supporting software such as winbraille, supernova and voice synthesizers.

Substitute teachers through the NSRF funds implement the projects.

The Music School has been repeatedly awarded for educational activities in the field of special music education.
