The saxophone ensemble of Music School of Thessaloniki consists of high school students at an advanced level of saxophone studies. It began its course in 2000 under the supervision and coordination of saxophone teacher Theophilos Sotiriadis.
The main focus of the repertoire is jazz music, while emphasis is given to other genres such as film music, classical music, Balkan music, improvised music as well as compositions by the students themselves.
During its long career the ensemble has performed in dozens of events, including: a concert before the former President of the Hellenic Republic Konstantinos Stephanopoulos (2003), a concert of the M.S.Th. at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall for the Olympic Games (2004), the opening concert of the “Dimitria in Schools” Festival (Ceremonial Hall of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, 2010), Balkan Square (at the inter-allied cemeteries of Stavroupolis Municipality, 2010), European eTwinning project (2010), workshops of the Regional Education of Central Macedonia on safe internet (2010-2011), etc.
