The ensemble “Folk-Rebetiko” of the Thessaloniki Music School is the evolution of the pre-existing ensemble “Modern Folk Music” which was first created in the school year 2004-2005 and operates until today.
Enriched with songs from the rebetiko area, the ensemble consists of students from Gymnasium and Lyceum, who, by participating in the events, spread their love for these two musical genres.
In the school year (2010-2011) the “rebetis” of the ensemble collaborated with the ensemble “rebetiko-tango” (music teachers Svoronou Loukia and Karpida Eleni) in the context of the music and dance performance “Musical immigrants from rebetiko to tango” which was presented in April 2011 at the school’s theatre.
In 2012-2013 the ensemble “Folk-Rebetiko” collaborated with the ensemble “Musics of the World”.
