Qualifying Examinations at M.S.Th. – Course Material

Read the Ministerial Decision on “Operation of Music Schools”.

If vacancies arise in grades 2 and 3 of the Gymnasium and grades 1, 2 and 3 of the Lyceum due to transfer, removal of students or any other reason, then these vacancies can be filled through qualifying examinations held within the third ten days of September of each school year.

The subjects to be examined in the context of the qualifying examinations are as follows:

a. for the second grade of secondary school: European Music Theory and Practice, Greek Traditional Music Theory and Practice, as well as the Compulsory Individual Musical Instruments (piano, tambura or other compulsory traditional musical reference instrument taught at school) and optionally the Individual Instrument of Choice.

b. For the third grade of high school: European Music Theory and Practice, Greek Traditional Music Theory and Practice, the Compulsory Individual Musical Instruments (piano, tambura or other compulsory traditional musical reference instrument taught at school), Music History and optionally the Individual Instrument of Choice.

c. For the first grade of high school: European Music – Theory and Practice and Introduction to Harmony, Greek Traditional Music – Theory and Practice, the Compulsory Individual Musical Instruments (piano, tambura or other traditional musical reference instrument taught at school), Music History and the compulsory Individual Instrument of Choice.

d. For the second grade of high school: Harmony, Development of Aural Skills, Greek Traditional Music, History of Music, Compulsory Individual Piano Instrument and compulsory Individual Instrument of Choice.

e. For the third grade of high school: Harmony, Development of Aural Skills, Musical Form, Greek Traditional Music and the compulsory Individual Instrument of Choice. The examinations per subject are conducted as follows:

The examinations by subject for all classes are conducted as follows: (a) written for the theoretical part and oral for the practical part (European Music – Theory and Practice, Greek Traditional Music – Theory and Practice, European Music – Theory and Practice and Introduction to Harmony), (b) written (History of Music, Musical Form) and (c) by audition (Compulsory Individual Musical Instruments, Compulsory Individual Instrument of Choice).

Successful candidates must submit immediately: a) a birth certificate, b) a certificate of marital status, c) a PPC bill or other official document showing their home address and d) an email from parents/guardians.
