We are pleased to share with you the official letter from the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports and the Institute of Educational Policy, announcing the selection of the Thessaloniki Music School as one of the thirteen (13) public schools in Greece entering a path of internationalization through the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB) programme.
This development marks a historic milestone for our school. The certification process, expected to be completed by May 2026, will allow students currently attending the first year of Lyceum to choose—if they wish—a globally recognized educational programme for the second and third years of Lyceum, while remaining within the public framework of the Music School.
The programme concerns the final two years of Lyceum and leads to a Diploma equivalent to the Greek Apolytirio (Upper Secondary School Leaving Certificate). It includes six subject groups (with English as the primary language of instruction in most courses) as well as innovative components such as the Extended Essay and CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service).
Following the completion of the first semester, parents and guardians will be invited to declare their intention regarding their child’s enrollment, so that strategic planning for the new academic year may proceed accordingly.
Our school is already collaborating with specialized IB consultants, while our teachers are participating in intensive certification and professional development programmes in preparation for the launch of the IB Diploma Programme.
